History Is Not Random

Considering the ongoing splintering today of churches over doctrines and theologies, for the sake of retaining solid biblical truth or allowing error and false teaching to infiltrate, a battle that has been ongoing since the beginning. Battles for biblical truth have been won only to be fought all over again in later generations.

Looking back on church history it’s amazing to me the tremendous amount of agreement there is among Augustine, Aquinas, Anselm, Luther, Calvin, and Edwards—the recognized titans of church history. Truth has always risen to the surface. Sometimes after having been driven underground, however.

Ever been concerned by the direction of the culture’s going wildly sideways, having left its first love? Not to worry. The Lord has, and does, sift His church from time to time, holding her to a closer proximity of purity, consequently. The Bride of Christ shall prevail a little more refined, a little more pure, and a little more beautiful.

But let us remember to persevere and prevail as we strive to keep our own spiritual house in order, as ones who never forget that the Savior is our first Love.

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now

“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”[f]

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. 1 Peter 4:17-19

    1. Very true, Jesus is the doctrine and the theology. Lies twisting Truth is the necessity of battle. And yes, the years have a way of mellowing the spiritual warrior. 🙂

  1. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver (Malachi 3:2-3).
It’s the Lord who purifies His church.
