As a regular to semi-regular blogger, the downturn in traffic noticed across the board the past several months gives one pause.

It leaves one to wonder what is causing it. Has personal blogging popularity reached its zenith with interest waning faster, producing more new bloggers who quit sooner? Alternatively, has something else superseded the blog as an ether communication mode? Maybe the v-blog or podcast?

If one were noticing it only in a single blog sample, they could take measures to change some things personally. However, investigating further, that is not the case. If paid SEOs are influencing traffic that much, a sense of futility creeps into one’s thoughts. Thoughts of “why bother if increased effort reach is diminishing?”

Paid SEOs to funnel like-interest bloggers to their client’s site is increasing its lobbying to bloggers. Nope. No will do.

Admittedly, one is merely thinking “on paper” here. These thoughts have been scattered about within for some time. So it goes just to assemble them in a single corral a bit.

Ha! I know it’s in the Lord’s hands. My only question to Him is, should I should or should I not should? question.

  1. Hm. 🙂 Well, I hope you don’t leave, but if you do, let me know so I can stalk you elsewhere. Although WP is my only social media at the moment. But, I find your writing exceptional, so of course I will follow you. 😊🌹💕

  2. Ya, don’t let statistics slow you down any my friend. As an occasional to once in awhile blogger, I’m out of the loop except I read a lot (when not fishing, hunting, working 10 hour shifts or doing wilderness expeditions). I think you have a great list of deep thinkers following your blog (personally sitting up straighter here…cough nervously).
I suppose being like Jesus we should be opportunists. For his platform Jesus used the temple, a boat, mountain, a local hangout for women (well), someones living room, upper room… and the list is quite long. Any books in the making G.W?

    1. Thanks Gary, my friend. I should say you are a deep thinker. In more than a few of your comments you have given me material for a whole ‘nother blog post!
And I do see what you mean about opportunity. If I’m not on the mound pitching the catcher gets nothing but air in his mitt.

  3. G.Wv. If you are asking for feedback ~ I suppose it depends on why you are here and why you came.
I began blogging in 2011, with hardly any viewers. Continuing to use this platform as a means to archive what the Lord gives ~ things I used to write in notebooks, now in file boxes for 27 years. Some of those are books now published;, others may never be read. It is good for me to know that if only one person benefits, it is worth posting. But, then as you look to the same guidance as I do, you have said, “Only one can answer your question.” He is the only one we need to please. Prayers for you and blessings in whatever and wherever you decide. You are a blessing to me. Please let us know if you find a better place.

    1. Thank you for your input, Frances. I was thinking more in terms of switching to v-log or podcasting as a medium. But I do enjoy working with the written language so much. Thank you for your blessing. You are very much a blessing to me.

  4. This seems to be happening across all the Christian blogs. I am hearing it from everywhere. I have a sneaking suspicion that the machine is sending us to the back of the line for the way we write, and the way we align ourselves. I have a friend who is a regular YouTube creator and she shared a screenshot recently of a strike against her account. The charge? “Hate Speech.” The word in question? (One solitary word…) “SIN”

My numbers have dropped to a quarter of what they were at the end of last year, and have remained as low unless I spend a great deal of time sharing posts on social media. I simply don’t have that time nor the desire to do that. I’m not a marketer! But… I have prayed and prayed about it and keep coming back to the same conclusion… if we reach ONE person, somewhere down the road, then it’s all worth it.

I don’t always comment but I do hope you stay and continue to share your brilliant words. They are amazing and I’m thrilled to be connected with you here. God bless you and your wonderful platform here.

    1. Hi Stacey Lynn. Thank you so much for commenting. Wow. All this information you imparted to me is a real eye opener and a God-send. I had almost forgotten about the bigotry against Christians I heard tell of by YouTube!
My sister, a pastor’s wife, told me she thinks the Lord is slowly closing the window to allowing those who respond to His call. It has given me a renewed fervor to reach more. But as you say, it is in His hands. And of course, that is where we are also. Thank you so much!
And thank you for your very kind words. I am encouraged! Many, many blessings to you and yours!

  5. I think you would be amazed, blown away I suspect, at the influence you exercise with your words to us WordPress bloggers !! Remember, as with all things, its not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit, that cuts deep into the heart of the reader, and more often than not, just at the right time and season. Expand if you will, but maybe its not a should or not should, an either or, but rather both – go and stay at the same time – if that makes any sense of it all ? 😃

    1. Thank you so very much for your kind words, Carol. Yes, you are right. It IS in His hands, and your input has helped remind me of that. To move and to stay? That makes perfect sense to me, if I should make any movement. Thank you! 😊
How are you doing, Carol? I remain in prayer on your behalf, to be sure. Many, many blessings for you!
