Perspective

Look Up!

Have you ever had a day like this and asked yourself, am I alone?

Is the sky falling directly over my world alone?

Is my beautiful morning,  that began so bright and fresh

Now-so-slowly crumbling,

From the dark cloud that settled over my head

Raining dry dust as I watch

It comes to rest around my shoes even as I walk,

Leaving my footprints in a narrow trail of dust and ash.

And everybody on the same busy sidewalk looks at me

Like the anomaly I already know I have become,

Because the dust cloud is following me, only?

And I alone encountered my expedition,

And I alone survived to tell the tale.

I have been there on more than one occasion knowing I had not the power to change my circumstances. But when that Day of Light came I found that I wasn’t powerless. I had the power available to change my perspective about the passing condition of time and moment. A changed perspective is not simply a “Don’t-worry-be Happy” type of platitude.

It is called PRAISE! It can be issued forth in a variety of expressions.

Praise means shifting my attention from genuine or imagined problems, and putting my conscious focus on the Savior of my soul along with His authentic presence with me in times of trouble.

Apparently, I am not a natural “happy-go-lucky” type of personality. I must work at it. I require of myself to exercise the desire to be so almost daily. By nature, I tend to be cynical and woeful toward the world. Therefore, I at times expect the worst to happen even in the center of convivial events. But God…!

Yes, but God…! Those miraculous times in the scriptures when disaster is about to overtake mankind and evil is looming ready to devour all that is good. But God intervenes at just the right moment and brings about the miracle of salvation and deliverance. ~G.W.

“Have you ever stopped to consider the power of praise? The power of praise is a gift from God to us. It lifts us from our valley of despair and transports us to the mountain tops of faith and hope. One of the most powerful things we can do in life is praise the Lord!

Some misunderstand praise. They envision a power hungry God who simply wants his subjects to tell Him how great He is. This is a gross misunderstanding of praise. Praise is not an egotistical God who wants to be told over and over again how great He is. Praise is an all loving, benevolent God, who wants to share His glory and goodness with His creation. Praise is the invitation to love and be loved by the Creator of the universe.

The world should not be mystified by the power of praise. It is used every day in our places of work, our human relationships, and in the music that we listen to. Someone once wisely said – “You can attract more bees with honey than with vinegar.” Honey is the power of praise. It is the exchange of love and affirmation between two people. And, when that exchange takes place between a person and God, wonderful things begin to happen!”

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;” Psalm 119:1-3

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light;

they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death,

upon them hath the light shined. ~Isaiah 9:2 (KJ21)

“Be thou my (perspective) O Lord of my heart…Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.” Timeless classic Celtic hymn.

  1. Praise is often misunderstood, when we get to heaven to stand before the Lord for an eternity to praise Him, is it going to be just singing in joy to God?

Praise includes much more than most conceive, when you praise your wife or children or friends are we only making song or prose? No, we talk about them, their good, their opinions, their views, etc; we find those attributes which reflect what we perceive as good and continually dwell on that good.

Eternity is going to be filled with much of the same. Singing included but much more, we’ll have forever to talk about and listen to others stories about Christ, people expressing their joy & love of God & Christ. We’ll be able to hear & see how all of the smallest things in life brought everything back to Christ.

Praise is what people do here as well, when their writing reflects their heart with Christ, it’s giving written praise to the Divine.
