As the Tree Falls…

Nature has a beautiful way of getting our attention, doesn’t it. But where does that attention take us? For what is nature but a word we ascribe to God’s Providence.

As the tree falls, so must it lie.

As the person lives, so must they die.

As a person dies, such must they be.

All through the ages of eternity!

“Let him who does wrong, continue to do wrong;

let him who is vile, continue to be vile!” Revelation 22:11

Everyone goes to his own place. That is the place for which he is fitted by his life on the earth. He who lived a life of unrepentant sin here on earth will continue to sin forever. Eternal death–simply put is eternal sin, along with the punishments and consequences thereof. The payment of the wicked will not be arbitrary but the results of their own choices and acts in this life.

It makes a significant difference, therefore, in how we live in this world. The future life is but the harvest of this present life. Men will be judged by their deeds. The New Testament everywhere teaches the same solemn truth.

This does not mean that salvation is by works. On the contrary, we are saved by grace–but grace changes a life and makes us holy. How can this be?

Thank God for Jesus Christ, who paid the penalty for all who believe in (believe their life into) Him.

“To die is gain”–only to those who can sincerely say, “To me, to live is Christ!” Philippians 1:21

My Faith has found a Resting Place.

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.” “Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”

(Revelation 7:10, 12)

  1. Much depth in these truths G.W..
We spend a life time messing up our bed for eternity unless God in His grace intervenes. In the service of the King we make our beds for that inspection to hear “well done”

  2. We are saved by grace, but that grace changes us into heaven-bound beings. You certainly have a talent for distilling ideas down to the most important part, G.W.! Thanks for churning and churning—so the rest of us can scoop off the cream. Blessings!

    1. Thanks David. Distilling and churning and clearing the sediment makes the jewel easier to behold and savoring more flavor from the truth. It’s a labor of love. Might even bring somebody closer to the kingdom. Blessing!
