I Pray Thee

Prayer Warrior

He Cannot pray as he would,

He cannot pray as he should,

Stand he shall as he prays in the dell,

And pray as he can as well.

Yet, pray he will, and he should.

~G.W.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 NIV

Coram Deo – True worship is from our spirit to God’s Spirit. Worship in prayer where we are. When we pray, we are on Holy ground…in truth and in Spirit.

  1. Those opening 2 lines really struck me because for me they point to that which the enemy uses to try to convince me that I’m not a prayer warrior but a prayer washout. Thank goodness the Holy Spirit is right there to counter the attack. As Romans 8:26 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Over these last years, I’ve learned that “Praying without ceasing” isn’t about success or failure, it’s about remaining faithful to praying. That is exactly what your last 3 lines speak to- faithfully pray. Thank you GW your words always have a way of encouraging my spirit!

    1. I know what you mean, Beth. When I was young, I answered the devil back one time only. He had me on my knees in tears instead of prayer telling me I couldn’t pray. Give it up, he said. I told him he wasn’t going to stop me from talking to my Father! I stood and began praying like never before. The opposite effect of his intervention made me stand firm, and I never forgot it. I now talk to the Lord even when I’m busy. I discuss with Him what I’m doing and ask Him to join me. I love our Father and I love talking to Him. Bless you, Beth. I know you pray better than you can even imagine! I’m quite sure God agrees.
