He sacrificed *everything in his determination to reach His goals.
A plan controlled with certitude.
The plan of salvation displays to us the power of God in a way that nothing else does. The power of God was showcased in the Incarnation when He prepared a body for His Son. And worked the miracle of the virgin birth—such magnificent power!
But not only that. I think of it like this: It is as we see God in Christ and all that He did in Him. Much more, through this plan of salvation, we see His absolute power to master everything in opposition to Himself. Everything that is opposed to mankind’s best interests, and everything that is opposed to the best interests of this world.
The case is that the whole problem has arisen in this way. One of the brightest angelic beings created by God rebelled against God and raised himself up against Him. That is the origin of Satan. He is a power, a person, an angel of great might. He is as great as this: He deluded a man and conquered him, thereby making himself the (g)od of this world and “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). The power of the devil is something that we seriously underestimate.
Satan believed he had overturned all the work of salvation when the Son of God went to the cross.
But, Paul says in Colossians 2 that Satan made his greatest blunder. For by the cross, God “spoiled principalities and powers, and He made a (fool) of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (verse 15). Christ met Satan face to face in single combat and routed him.
At the cross, He fulfilled the promise given to man at the beginning, when Adam was told that the woman’s seed would crush the serpent’s head, though his own heel would be wounded. This was the plan of salvation. That God shared this information with us is more proof for our journal. When God calls us His children and friend, we can take that to the heavenly bank deposited in our account. Only the children are given the Father’s plan.
The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God. Romans 8:16 (AMP Bible)
In God’s promise is His single-minded determination to see His plan to perfect completion. Unfortunately for Satan, this counts for more of Satan’s fiery darts of doubt fired at us blunted by our shield of faith. Our helmet of salvation is still polished and unmarred, kept for us in heaven even as we wear it on earth. This is the reason we sharpen daily the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
