“Far too many sheep in the fold have turned to cloister in a clique, no longer questioning their true purpose of being outside the gate. Instead, busily these cloistered are engaged in a mutual-admiration campaign, complementing one another’s wool or gloating over their position in the pen.”

How far may “encouragement” go before it becomes enabling self-aggrandizement? If this message stings, it could be a warning. If it doesn’t, it should cause us to do some solemn self-examination. To remember:

“In Christ, we are simultaneously righteous and sinner.” -Luther

We know better, but we still fall into the old traps of our humanity.

 

Conversely, A blogger has been on my site list from its start. She has become silent in blogging, but nonetheless she shows up every day by placing a “like” on every blogger that shows up on her reader daily. She never misses a day. Her encouragement is silent and as faithful as the spring rains. Silently she comes and leaves her mark of faithfulness to God our Savior in doing this. Quietly she attends to encouraging God’s flock, never calling attention to herself. So, on this day, I will honor her by calling attention to her before God and the whole world.

Her name is Karina Lam of Indonesia. The Lord’s richest blessings upon you, my dear, for your great and unwavering faithfulness!
