The Blind See

Clear thinking in search of objective truth has always been the aim of combatting lies that strive to destroy reality. It is crucial to our survival now in the darkness enveloping our age. I originally wrote this article back in 2014. At a time before the evil of our times had been quite as unveiled.

By removing the cover of the hidden pervasive sewer and pulling back the curtain of the evil entity hiding behind it. This same darkness we now recognize spreads its poison across the globe unabated, growing with very little apparently holding it in check.

In other words, I wrote this in a slightly more innocent time. How much more we need this now, sharpened and finely honed against a more open and devious adversary. So let us be about our Father’s business in recognizing a ruthless spiritual enemy creeping to and fro looking for whom he may devour.

Damascus Road – Acts 9:1-19

How can a man be born (changed) when he is old? Indeed, he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be birthed!” 1

  “I urge you, brothers, because of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” 2

The renewing of the mind doesn’t mean ‘brainwashing.’ Still, quite the opposite, it means to cleanse the mind of the brainwashing it received previously from other sources. It means looking at life from a clean and fresh perspective; one that can give an accurate, more precise, and actual frame of reference based on a better interpretation of information. For example, the average world may view a diamond as valuable. Rather, a renewed mind would see it for what it is. A reasonably ordinary pebble dressed and polished, with no outstanding significance other than common opinion placed on it.

The renewing of the mind comes to us through effort as we actively read, search, study, glean and absorb/integrate the Bible’s direction, information and wisdom into our life. We are able do this through instruction and interpretation provided by the Holy Spirit, who “will teach you all things.” 3

As we progress, we take on what is often called a Biblical worldview. That is a mind that views the world through a clear lens. Its values, morals, and business as compared with the truths and instructions of the Bible. It doesn’t mean being contentious with those of the world’s view; it simply means being true to our new direction of thought and values. As a result, our attitudes of mind and habits of thought become transformed.

One great benefit that begins to take root is that the “peace that surpasses all understanding” is finding a new home in us and rooting deeper.

The world is full of people who, through “self-help,” try to change themselves as they think is right, only to snap back to how they were or even to a “worse condition.” 4

But as ol’ Nicodemus perceived – true and lasting change is possible only through the author of life, Jesus Christ.

Beloved of God: Let us, therefore contain the Joy of the Lord through our continuing in the renewing of our mind in the scriptures. Thus, we will grow in the grace and knowledge of our relationship with Christ Jesus, our Savior. Moreover, let us stand firm in that relationship come what may!


Epilogue Added:

 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

  1. I love all of this, GW! I was just thinking about the self-help part recently. How there are a lot of techniques for helping ourselves, but none are lasting – other than the Word and the Word made manifest! As always, enjoyed your post!

  2. I love the photo💕 I wish it were that simple to break free from all of the brainwashing, the lies, and deceptions impressed upon us in this world, but I’m grateful that God knows best…he reveals the truth little bit by little bit! That’s really all I can handle. Thanks GW!

  3. Renewing the mind is of inestimable value (regarding the diamond), your mind is that one most precious thing that leads you aside from your heart.
    The new creature needs a new perspective, the old ways or its acceptable things no longer apply, and will distort the purpose of the new creature.

      If our mind isn’t right, our faith is going to suffer. Our minds and our soul go hand in hand. I taught many Bible classes to drug/alcohol addicts who had recently come to Christ. This important pearl of the Bible centered on Romans 12: 1-2 and 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5.

      Secular society knows this concept also, and they misuse it and abuse it without Bible reference. For they didn’t get it from the Bible, they heard it repeated from other misguided sources.

      That is why I focused on the concept of renewing the mind in Christ in a continuing way critical to gaining the mind of Christ in a growing practice. Renewing the mind in Christ is a subject central to discipleship; we are still disciples of Christ throughout our life on earth. Therefore, continuing to teach the renewing of the mind in Him is necessary to address the church repeatedly.
