I posted this tribute to my mother last year, Mother’s Day. I think it’s worth another Go Around. One more time for Mom! (1920 – 2010) With much love and appreciation. My biggest advocate on earth growing up. This wild one who needed much guidance, taming, and patience in learning boundaries, restraint, and self-discipline. Love of Christ was in her, and love had the wit to win.

The first time ever I experienced the enchantment in the joy of the Lord, I was three years old. My mother was putting me down for my afternoon nap. Chattering as was my habit of putting off sleep, my mother said to me, “Listen, I want to tell you about God.”
She had my complete attention by the tone of her voice, rather intense.
“If you become afraid or if you are ever lost, there is God who watches over you. He always sees you and knows when you need His help.” I liked the sound of this. She had my rapt attention. I said I wanted to see Him. He sounded so wonderful. She said, “You can’t see Him because He is spirit, but someday you will.” Getting excited at the thought, I asked, “What’s His name? “God’s name is Jesus,” she said. At hearing His name, the heart of this little three-year-old leapt in his chest. “I know Him!” “She said, “You don’t know Him yet, but you will when the time comes. And He will always be with you.”
The most incredible sense of happiness and joy filled me more than I had experienced in my young life. I was wide awake then. I wanted to hear more. She said, “Hush now. More later. Sleep now.” I drifted into a soft cloud of quiet, peaceful sleep.
That moment has been remembered by me, from time to time, for the rest of my life. My mother was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, and it showed in her everyday life throughout her life. She was also the evangel angel who introduced me to my Savior so many years ago.
God Bless all you Mothers out there. You are God’s first line of defense for all His earthly children around the globe from generation to generation.
“Her children arise and call her blessed” Proverbs 31:28
~G.W.
G. W., this is such a wonderful tribute to mothers. Like you, so much of my life has been shaped by God and mama.
Blessings.

Yes, she certainly was a gift from God to all of us. All five of her children are still here and serving the Lord in one capacity or another. Thanks for your commenting! 🌝

Thank you, Crissy. I never wrote one for her while she was with us. I would like to think the Savior may deliver a copy to her while meeting for morning tea. It’s a sentimental thought, I know. 🙏😊

Thank you, Jo! It’s been quite a ride, but the insights through hindsight have given me a much better perspective on the love the Lord has shown me. And His love keeps on growing as I grow closer to Him.

“Insights through hindsight”…what a great phrase G.W. That could be a blog all of its own! If only I knew then what I know now…
