Quality and Quantity

***

I thought to post this article by Ken Riddles as a Guest Post to give it a wider audience, which I believe it deserves, rather than just re-posting. The depth of truth Ken amasses in so few words is incredible. I think he makes a vital point in Christian Orthodoxy. Therefore, I have included it in my “Keeper Posts” file. I think this article is well worth your time for reading and cogitation. ~GW

QUALITY AND QUANTITY

We all know the saying = ‘quality before quantity’. But sometimes we need both.

There are two sides to the Christian Life. Let’s say, there is the truth side and the experiential side.

On the truth side we need to hear God’s inspired utterances in The Christian Bible. I mean REALLY hear them.

On the experiential side we must enter into a sure, felt (discernible), subjective experience of Christ coming into our innermost being.

We must have both and many scriptures establish this fact.

On the truth side we read such scriptures as:

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”,

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

On the experiential side:

For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

And in this last reference we see both mentioned:

Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

There are many more scriptures that could be quoted.

When it comes to these two aspects of Christian Living – we can say that we need the quality of God’s Word and we need a greater quantity of God’s Blessing.

I close with Habakkuk’s cry, remembering that God’s speech is His Word, and we need God to move in Power to bring a reviving.

Hab. 3/2

O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.

  1. Amen, and amen! I call it being personally invested. It was Paul’s prayer for the church…
“…That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints… Ephesians 1:17-18
When we get included into his plans we should get invested.
    Thank you, God bless.
